Position : Librarian


USPCAS-W invites applications from dynamic and high performing qualified professionals for the positions given below. The Center offers an attractive remuneration package commensurate with the individual’s qualification and experience. All positions are contract based. The project period is up to December, 2019 and is likely to be extended further.

 

Librarian:

  1. To plan, organize and supervise the work of the section and be responsible to all activities carried on in the section.
  2. To plan various Library services for facilitating the customers.
  3. To prepare budget proposals and schemes of the section.
  4. To design operations, systems, and processes of library as a unit.
  5. To provide Automation, Bar-coding, OCLC & MARC Conversion.
  6. To keep liaison with faculty and students and plan on activities to meet the commitment of library towards educational and research goals of the University.
  7. To advocate the Library on various forums and is its spokesmen.
  8. To take major interests in introducing IT related services in the library and creating IT culture by introducing latest technology with library applications.
  9. To act as Quality Council Member for ISO 9000 Cell representing the section.
  10. To work on Seminar Libraries Project as a team leader.
  11. To sanction leave to the staff working in the section as per relevant Statutes; to ensure that all staff working in the section attended to their duties properly.
  12. To report to the authorities concerned for the appointment of staff, after ascertaining the vacancies in his own section.
  13. To propose disciplinary action against the employees in his section to the competent authorities.
  14. To submit annual program and report about, learning, teaching, research, development executed before and after each academic year.
  15. To exercise full powers to sanction expenditure out of contingency fund allocated to his section in the approved University Budget placed at his disposal.
  16. To exercise full powers to sanction expenditure out of Project Fund Account placed at his disposal.
  17. To open official Bank Account for his section with the consent/consultation of Director of Finance and operate it in his official capacity as the Librarian and to be responsible to maintain and render up to date record and proper Book-Keeping for all receipts and payments from the account.
  18. To recommend write-off of loss of property to the Vice-Chancellor after proper enquiry to arrange for the physical verification of the books, literature, furniture and other equipment of the section every year and submit report to the higher authorities.
  19. To exercise such financial and other powers and to perform such other duties as may be prescribed under Regulations and/ or to be assigned by the higher authorities from time to time.
  20. To take disciplinary action against the customers as per relevant Regulations.
  21. To chair the meetings of Departmental Management Review Committee, as per requirement of theQuality Management System and follow up the decisions taken in the meetings to ensure their completion in the specified time frame.
  22. To perform all other responsibilities to be assigned by the competent authorities from time to time.

 

Qualification and Experience:

Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent qualifications from a recognized University/ Institute having 5 years of relevant experience.
